My name is JoAnna, I am one of Dr Layman’s hygienist. I have been with Dr Layman for 7 years. I learn so much here at the office. Dr Layman is always learning new techniques and keeping up with the most modern technology for the care of her patients.

New things in Hygiene. We offer a Laser Bacteria Reduction (LBR) treatment at your cleanings which helps reduce the amount of bacteria in our mouth. It’s a diode laser, set at a low setting which breaks up the cell wall of the bacteria that grow beneath our gum tissue. We know that the bacteria in our mouth forms a film underneath our gums where pockets form. If left untreated the bacteria starts to invade the connective gum tissue and blood vessels and gets into our blood stream and causes numerous health complications such as heart disease, stroke, complications in heart disease, respiratory disease and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Here in our office we are very pro-active and want to prevent periodontal disease in any way we can and we found that the Laser Bacteria Reduction (LBR) really helps keep the bacteria count down which is the primary goal to a healthier mouth, and in return over-all health of the body.
